Social Sports Society Submits Plans for A New Sports and Wellbeing Hub at Brabazon

The announcement is part of Brabazon’s ‘meanwhile use’ strategy, designed to create a destination for leisure and lifestyle while the long-term vision for a thriving new town takes shape – a vision that includes 6,500 new homes, a new railway station, a 15-acre park, and recent milestones such as the announcement of a flagship Waitrose store and state-of-the-art office buildings.

Expected to open in Spring 2026, the proposed venue will feature nine pro-standard padel courts, three pickleball courts, wellness facilities including a community sauna and ice baths, immersive golf pods, social games and a curated food and drink offer – creating a destination for sport, socialising and wellbeing within Brabazon’s 400-acre masterplan.

Why Padel?

Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK, with participation more than tripling in the past two years and over 1,000 courts now open nationwide.

Its appeal lies in its accessibility – easy to learn, low-impact and suitable for all ages and abilities – making it a truly inclusive sport. Global icons from David Beckham to Serena Williams have embraced the game for its fast-paced, social nature.

A Vision for Sport and Wellbeing

Jon McDiarmid, Director of Sales & Marketing at YTL Developments, said: “Partnering with Social Sports Society brings yet another dimension to our thriving new town at Brabazon.

It will create spaces for sport and social connection that reflect our vision for an active community – for the people who will live here and for those who visit. It’s an exciting step toward making Brabazon a destination for wellbeing and lifestyle, and I’m eager to discover what makes padel so popular and play my first match.”

Giving Back to the Community

As part of its commitment to inclusivity, S3 Padel has pledged to donate 250,000 hours of free court time over the next five years to schools, charities and community organisations – giving thousands of people the chance to discover and enjoy padel.
